Corporate Event Styling | Behind the Scenes

Here is a little sneak peak behind the scenes at Little Gray Station! So often we get asked about what being an event stylist actually involves and while this is a very creative industry it is also one that requires hard work, planning and not being afraid to get your hands dirty, literally.

When we first sat down with our lovely client at Nu Pure we talked about their vision for a striking celebration for 130 guests (this number grew to 200 by the time the date of the event had arrived!). Incorporating their branding and creating a warm and inviting atmosphere with cheese board style centrepeices, that did not feel like a wedding!

Next step vision board! This is one of those fun and creative aspects of the job, pulling together inspiration from all over pinterest, instagram past events, styled shoots and collating them into the perfect vision for event!

Next comes all of the finer details, furniture orders, liaising with vendors and finalising the floor plans. For this job the finer details included making over 50 cement and copper candle holders by hand and creating custom cement, copper and black table numbers. For each event when we settle on a theme we revisit it at each step of the process thinking about what we can do to push the envelope for ourselves. Do something we've never done before to make the event totally unique for our clients!

Finally after months of work and hundreds of emails we are on our way with two trucks, 1 car full of vases and another full of foliage and flowers, and the Little Gray Station team! The night before we set up shop in a hotel room, filled the room with foliage and with a glass of champagne in hand spent the night putting the arrangements together.

There is nothing like working on something and seeing it all come together after so much planning! For this event we worked with such a great team of suppliers and for such a wonderful client it was exhilarating seeing it all come together! Starting at 6.00am we styled centrepeices, constructed bar signage, laid rugs and made sure every detail was perfect!

And then at 10.30pm we were back to pack it all away. It was one 16 hour day exhausting, hard work but a lot of fun!
